Sri Indulal Shah and Sri S.V.Giri vacate office of trustee, SSSCT; Who will take up the vacant positions?

3rd January 2016

The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust took note of the continued absence and non participation of Sri Indulal Shah and Sri S. V. Giri in the affairs of the Trust, its programmes and meetings and placed on record that on account of their physical and mental incapacity Sri Indual Shah and Sri S. V. Giri have vacated office as Trustees of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.

The Trustees placed on record the long, distinguished and enormous service rendered by Sri Indulal Shah and Sri S. V. Giri to Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, prior to the impairment of their health, and thank them for their services.

Ravi: This is a very appropriate development in the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT). Of course, both the revered elders, Sri Indulal Shah sir and Sri S.V. Giri sir have rendered invaluable service to SSSCT and Bhagavan's mission in general. All of us devotees in the Sathya Sai fraternity, IMHO, should be very thankful to them for these services they have rendered. I certainly am very thankful to both Sri Indulal Shah sir and Sri S.V.Giri sir for the leadership they provided under (physical form) Swami's DIVINE DIRECTION for the Sathya Sai movement.

So there are two vacancies in the nine member SSSCT now. Who will take up these vacant positions?

I personally would be very glad to see Prof. Anilkumar Kamaraju sir take up one of the vacant positions. Prof. Anilkumar Kamaraju's sagacity, knowledge and experience in relation to the Sathya Sai fraternity, both Indian as well as international, as a very well known speaker & writer on Sathya Sai life & teachings, a former translator of Bhagavan's discourses who has had the great blessing of lot of experiences & interactions with Bhagavan, and a former senior faculty of the Sai university (Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning), make him a very good choice for trustee, SSSCT, IMHO.

I believe Sri Sathyajit Salian is actively being considered for taking up one of these vacant positions. What people have said is that (physical form) Swami wanted Sri Sathyajit Salian to be made a trustee. I don't know how true that report is.

Overall, SSSCT has to be congratulated for a wonderful 90th birthday celebration. SSSCT can build on this strong platform by at least some of the trustees (especially those based in Prasanthi Nilayam/Puttaparthi) becoming more approachable and more in touch with the Sathya Sai fraternity. I hope that the new trustees (whoever they may be) go out of their way to freely interact with Sathya Sai fraternity (devotees) and thereby give a friendly and welcoming face to SSSCT.

  1. Sai Ram Brother,
    Thanks for the news.
You are right in your views about Mr.Indulal Shah and Mr.S.V.Giri.
It is good if Mr. Satyajit Salian becomes Trustee. When Swami took Mahasamadhi many people wished that he should be made Trustee. But then later we realized that he is leading SSSVV. I have heard that many people wanted Anil Kumar Sir and Mr.Salian to be made a Trustees. I personally feel that if Mr.Satyajit would be made Trustee then finding a good leader for SSSVV would take time. I think Mr.Satyajit would know which elder man or woman would be appropriate for the position. You see travelling from one school to another, and from one place to another needs lot of courage and stamina. This is a work which requires good virtues, otherwise someone else could simply waste time with family or children crying in the background. Now, one benefit of being Celibate is that you don't need to worry about such things. SSCTrust with guidance of Satyajit will have to find someone appropriate like Satyajit for SSSVV before considering him for the position of Trustee.
I mean you see when people get acquainted with a leader, they try to imbibe his values. So, giving farewell to a charismatic leader, someone who is considered just as son of Swami, would be really difficult for workers, volunteers and teachers of SSSVV. Like many others I would feel bad about it. But then yes, if we think of a greater good then if Satyajit is made Trustee it would be fine as Swami would like it. So, if it is Swami's wish then we can't refute it for that would happen in the near future. Good people should be part of the Trust.
Swami will do the best. Swami would often say that whatever happens is for Good so I think Swami cannot do anything wrong. If he wills Mr.Anil Kumar and Mr.Satyajit Salian to be Trustees then I don't think anyone would be able to refute Swami's will. :)
So, what is the point in worrying...:)
